Bristol Reggae Orchestra seeks a new Music Director

Bristol Reggae Orchestra is an award-winning community orchestra with 40 adult members from a diverse backgrounds. There are strings, brass, woodwind and percussion sections as well as guitars, drums and vocals. We play a wide-ranging repertoire, based on reggae, with an emphasis on original music created for the orchestra. The orchestra rehearses fortnightly in the St Paul’s area of Bristol.

After 8 years, during which the orchestra has moved from strength to strength, our MD is moving on to a new role and so we are seeking to recruit a Music Director/Conductor who can lead regular rehearsals and contribute to orchestra development, including our educational, outreach and workshop programmes.

This opportunity would suit a music graduate or community musician who has broad performing experience as well as knowledge and skills in music arranging, reading scores and conducting medium to large ensembles. This is a paid role, and the MD is supported by an active volunteer committee. We invite enquiries from musicians who love reggae, appreciate the values and ethos of the orchestra, and are able to work successfully with a wide range of people.

If you are interested in finding out more, please contact us by 28th February 2018.
