Norma Daykin

Conductor Norma Daykin is a respected music director, band leader, composer and performer. A sax player, she has over 15 years performance experience at national and international level including several tours and performances with the Lorraine Ayensu band, from St Paul’s Carnival to the Singapore River Festival. As a composer Norma has been commissioned by local and national agencies from Community at Heart to Serious and the Society for the Promotion of New Music. Her work for big band was performed at the 2007 London Jazz Festival.

Kim Moore

Bristol Reggae Orchestra has been chosen from over a hundred applicants to take part in Making Music’s “Adopt a Composer” scheme and has been matched with Glasgow-based musician and composer Kim Moore to work with the Orchestra over the course of a year on a new piece which will be performed, recorded and potentially broadcast on BBC Radio 3. Kim (who plays viola, piano and guitar) used to perform with indie band Zoey Van Goey, and now works as a solo artist in collaboration with theatre, dance, and visual artists and community groups.

Making Music (Adopt a Composer)

Barrington Chambers

Barrington grew up in Jamaica and is well known in Bristol for getting parties started at the Caribbean restaurant Plantation, among other places. He is a keen DJ and is well connected in Bristol’s reggae scene and loves to get the crowd going, as he did to great effect at the Aeon Festival in 2011.
