Bristol Reggae Orchestra is a registered charity [1180167]. We welcome donations, no matter how large or small.
The Orchestra was established in 2010 to reach out to diverse communities living in Bristol, extending opportunities for music making to excluded groups while creating high quality creative outputs and inclusive performances. We have always had lots of people who want to sing, but limited space for soloists.
On Windrush Day 2022 (June 22nd), we launched a Windrush Reggae Choir that was funded through the Windrush Day Grant scheme and was initially intended to run as a 6-month project. Following a magical performance at the Bristol Beacon for Black History Month, we have received great acclaim and generous donations that have allowed the choir to continue.
Connections or ideas are also welcome instead of money. Please feel free to email info@bristolreggaeorchestra.com and this will be shared with the appropriate contact.
This is what one of our beloved members had to say about their experience in the orchestra:
"The orchestra increases members’ confidence. We have some singers who joined the orchestra having never performed on a public stage before. They were terrified. Now the quality of their performance and the way they move on stage is completely different. But the most important thing to come from the orchestra is a really strong sense of community among the members. People really look out for each other and support each other, not just musically, but through some of the serious challenges that members have faced.”
As the UK's only community based reggae orchestra, we are looking to continue this expansion whilst maintaining the longetivity of our existing orchestra and choir. Please donate anything you can to support us on this exciting journey and help us continue to entertain, inspire and transform through the power of music!
